My wife Sue lives with Multiple Sclerosis and has used the Neuro Therapy Centre (previously the MS Centre) in Saltney several times. I want to challenge myself to support the centre to provide a safe and supportive environment for people with neurological conditions and their families.
The Neuro Therapy Centre in Saltney was a great support for David for about 10 years. He had regular Physio there and latterly was a member of the Movers and Shakers Choir. But the highlight of his week was the Gab & Go group run by Jane Hall, the counsellor; a very special group that enabled supportive friendships. He attended until a year ago - doggedly refusing lifts and first biking there, then going by 2 service buses, and then by the PlusBus for disabled people.
As Lady Captain of Helsby Golf Club in 2020, I chose Neurotherapy Centre (NTC) as my charity for the year. My father had Motor Neurone Disease and I have friends and relatives with MS, Huntingdon’s Disease etc. I realise how important exercise and socialising is and the centre and its staff provide the facilities and support whereby people with neurological conditions can join in various fitness classes and meet up with friends.
To thank the Centre for the support they provide, enabling me to stay active through oxygen and physiotherapy sessions.
