As a charity we like to have a broad range of expertise on our board to help steer the Centre's future. If you have expertise in any of the following areas, we'd be happy to hear from you:

This is a voluntary role, ideal for someone who wants to use their skills to support a life-changing cause.

  • Professional experience either current or previous in your expertise area.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain your ideas and give guidance as part of the board and working with the Centre's staff team

Help us build a strong future so that more people affected by neurological conditions can live their best neuro life.

Do you want to use your financial expertise to make a lasting difference? The Neuro Therapy Centre is looking for a committed and knowledgeable individual to join our Board of Trustees as our Treasurer.

We have been supporting people affected by neurological conditions across North Wales, Cheshire and Merseyside for 40 years. Our mission is to improve quality of life through tailored and inclusive services that promote physical and emotional wellbeing.

Overview of the Role

All the Trustees of the Neuro Therapy Centre hold the same level of responsibility for the governance of the Charity including financial matters. It is helpful to have a Trustee designated as Treasurer to maintain an overview of the Centre’s finances and to support and provide advice to other Trustees in understanding the financial viability of the Charity.

The Trustee Treasurer should have financial expertise and professional experience in the financial sector, awareness of charity finance is desirable but not essential.

The Treasurer, together with the Finance Manager, will present the financial information to the Board of Trustees at its quarterly meetings. The Treasurer will have oversight of the Financial Review within the Annual Report & Accounts, including the Reserves Policy, to be adopted by Trustees, and the Treasurer is expected to report to Members at the AGM.

The Trustee Treasurer chairs the Finance and Fundraising sub-committee, supported by the Finance Manager, to ensure the Centre maintains relevant accounting procedures and controls; risk reviews are undertaken; and the budget and KPIs are monitored. These meetings are scheduled bi-monthly.

The Trustee Treasurer will also support the Board of Trustees and Centre Management Team on the financial aspects of strategic planning, including fundraising.

This is a voluntary role, ideal for someone with financial expertise who wants to use their skills to support a life-changing cause.

  • Oversee the Financial Review in the Annual Report & Accounts, including the Reserves Policy
  • Report on finances to Members at the Annual General Meeting
  • Chair the Finance & Fundraising Sub-Committee (meets bi-monthly), ensuring financial controls are in place, risk is monitored, and KPIs and budgets are reviewed regularly
  • Support fundraising strategy and contribute to the Centre’s long-term financial planning

What We're Looking For

  • Professional experience in the financial sector, ideally with knowledge of charity finance
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain financial matters to non-specialists
  • A collaborative and strategic approach, with a commitment to good governance
  • Passion for our mission and values, and an interest in supporting people with neurological conditions
  • Willingness to take on the responsibilities of a Charity Trustee, including decision-making and oversight

  • Approximately 4–6 hours per month
  • Quarterly Board Meetings (virtual or in person)
  • Bi-monthly Finance & Fundraising Sub-Committee Meetings (virtual or in-person)
  • Occasional support between meetings, particularly around budgeting cycles and strategic planning

If you’re ready to use your financial expertise to make a real impact, we’d love to hear from you.

Please get in touch initially at [email protected] with a short expression of interest and details of your experience (CV if available). Follow-up conversations with our Trustee Chair, Lorraine Dodd and other board members would then be arranged.
