Help us celebrate our Fortieth Anniversary in 2025. If you want ideas for ways to fundraise for us, have a look at this list - if you've got any other ideas, let us know!

Walk

The old favourite way to raise money - choose your route or distance and get your family, friends and colleagues to make a donation in support.

Sponsored Run

For the more active!  Set yourself a target - perhaps a half marathon or a marathon, say that you're running on behalf of the Centre and gather up those sponsorships.

Sponsored Roll

If you're a wheelchair user, there are lots of accessible trails and paths in Cheshire and North Wales. Choose one, tell everyone you know that you're raising money for the Neuro Therapy Centre and get those funds rolling in!

Coffee Morning

Put the kettle on, get some cakes in, invite all your friends round and charge them a fee. It's an easy and sociable way to make some money.

Cake Sale

If you're a member of a group, or if you're in an office with people who bake, have a Cake Sale. Sell entire cakes, slices, individual muffins or cupcakes - easy and delicious!

Pyjama Day

Another one for the office. Get your colleagues to pay a small fee and get everyone to come in wearing their pyjamas - the sillier the better!  Fluffy slippers, daft dressing gowns, nightgowns, the lot!

1985 Fancy Dress Day

Whether you remember 1985 or not, dressing up in the fashions of the day will be a laugh. Huge shoulder pads, big hair, legwarmers, enormous jumpers, dangly earrings, blazers with the collars turned up and the sleeves rolled up. If you need inspiration from the pop charts, here are the best selling singles from 1985. Madonna, Duran Duran and Sister Sledge should give you some ideas!

Corporate Golf Day

Why not hold a Golf Tournament for your company, your customers and your suppliers? It's a great way to network, have a good day out, and raise awareness and funds.

Sponsored Silence / Quiet Hour

Everyone - be quiet for a whole hour!  Or just one person being silent for a whole day.  It's up to you.

Sponsored Swim

Another traditional one - get yourself along to your local pool, set yourself a target and go for it.

Sponsored birdwatch

Do this from the comfort of your own home, or get along to a local RSPB reserve, and spot as many different birds as you can.

Raffle

Get your colleagues to bring in some stuff from home - unwanted presents, that ornament they've always hated, that bottle of terrible booze they bought on holiday and will never drink - and raffle them off.

Karaoke night

Hold a karaoke night at a local venue, invite everyone, and have a collection for the Neuro Therapy Centre.

Office Sweepstake

Sporting events happen all the time - hold a sweepstake, have everyone pay £2 to enter, the winner gets half the funds raised and the other half comes to us! Easy...

Payroll Giving

Talk to your HR department about setting up a Payroll Giving option, and nominating the Neuro Therapy Centre as the benefitting charity. It's easy to do, and guarantees us a regular donation.

Dress Down Day

Tired of suits, ties and dresses? Come into the office in your comfiest clothes, loungewear, trackies, jumpers, the lot.  Pay a small fee, get cosy and make a difference for us.

Tabletop Sale

Sell your old books, toiletries, odd bits and bobs - put out a table in your Reception area, get everyone to bring things in, sell them off for a pound each. Or one sunny weekend day, put a table at the end of your driveway and get rid of all that clutter from the garage or shed.  It's a great way to clear out that stuff you don't need and donate some money.

Birthday donations

Some social media sites have an option for Birthday donations - set up a page that nominates us, and your friends and family can make donations quickly and easily.

Personal Challenges

Give up that thing you know you should cut out. Alcohol, chocolate - you name it.  If you don't want to do it permanently, perhaps just a month? Tell everyone in advance, so you have moral support, that'll make sure you do it.

Book Sale

Bring your old books to work and put them on sale for £1 or 50p each.  Another great way to declutter and raise cash for the Centre.

Back Garden Barbecue

The usual lovely summer barbecue - but ask people coming to make a donation for an extra sausage or a glass of Pimms. Doesn't have to be much, just tell them what a difference their donation will make to people with neurological conditions.

Work Barbecue

The same - but with your workmates.   If you've got some green space or a safe car park, have a summer party to celebrate our anniversary.

Vinted Sale

Get all those clothes you don't wear out of the wardrobe and get them onto Vinted. Send us a percentage - or even all - of your profits and we'll be delighted.

Duvet Day

Speak to HR or your manager before you do this!  Auction off a Duvet Day - you and your colleagues can bid for a day off that won't come out of your holiday.  Send us the money!

Busking

Do you have a musical talent or a good voice? Set up a performance area in your office building and do a few songs. Charge extra for requests!  If you haven't any musical talent, perhaps people might pay you to stop...

Silent Disco

Hire or borrow some Silent Disco kit and take donations from people in return for taking part. Video your colleagues dancing, for an extra embarrassment factor.

Head shave or beard shave

A brave thing to do but it gets attention. Have your head shaved and collect donations for the Centre. If you're a bloke, get a group together and all grow beards for a few weeks. Then have them all shaved off at the same time. Team up with a local barber and get some useful publicity while you're raising money for us.

Coffee Money Day/Week

Can you do without your Costa/Starbucks for a day, or even better, a week?  Donate the cash you would have spent. If you can get your whole company, department or office to do this, it adds up.

Ugly Jumper Day

Everyone's got an ugly jumper in the back of the wardrobe.  Bung it on, get your friends in the pub or your workmates in the office to do the same, have a good laugh at each other and make a bit of dosh while you're at it.

Swear Box

This can be a pub, club, workplace or home fundraiser. Every time someone uses a profanity, it's a quid in the swear box. We'll let you decide what counts as a swear word!

Sports Club Kit Sale

If you belong to a sports club, get everyone to dig out that old kit that they don't use any more. Get it all together and have a kit sale, and send us the proceeds. Another easy way to declutter and raise vital funds for the Centre.

Scavenger Hunt

Great fun - make a list of items to spot, send people off to find them and charge them a fee to do it.  (I once went on a scavenger hunt spotting items in pubs around Chester.  Just saying...)

Bakeoff competition

Lots of bakers at your place of work? Get everyone to bake a cake, muffins, biscuits, or whatever you like, and have people pay to sample them and judge the best. Add some silliness by dressing up as Paul, Prue, Noel or Alison!

Afternoon (Four)Tea

A very civilised way to fundraise.  Get some friends round, make some sandwiches, do some nibbles and cake, and if you're in the mood, a glass of Prosecco.  Ask everyone for a donation for the Centre and spread the word about what we do.

Sponsored Dog Walk

Gather up friends with pooches, pick a dog friendly route and have a sponsored dog walk.   Plan a pub stop at the end and have a whip(pet) round for the Centre!

Guess the Baby photo

Fundraising and a good laugh at the same time. Get people to bring in a baby photo of themselves, put them all up on a board and get your colleagues to guess who is who. Charge a couple of pounds for an entry sheet, make some money and have a laugh at the Finance Manager's chubby little cheeks while you're at it.

Bikeathon

Put a static bike in an open space in your office or club.  Set a target - it's fun to do an equivalent of somewhere to somewhere, such as Chester to London, or whatever you feel appropriate.  Ask people for donations, and get your colleagues and club members to take it in turns to do some pedalling.

No-tech day

This one could be a real challenge for some people!  Tell everyone you're going to have a day free from phones, iPads, laptops, etc.  Say 'If I do this, will you give me money for the Neuro Therapy Centre?'  Then turn all your tech off, hide it, and have a day reading a real book, going out and having a walk in the fresh air, go out for a meal and ban phones at the table - be in the moment and know that you're making a difference as you do it.

Quiz Night

If you take part in a quiz night, suggest to the organisers that the Neuro Therapy Centre could be the recipient of the entry fees for a week, a month or however long.  Or organise a quiz night yourself, it's great fun, there are plenty of resources on the internet, and we'll be very grateful for the proceeds.

Jargon Jar

Is every day a game of Buzzword Bingo in your office?  Do people touch base, push the envelope, grab the low hanging fruit or give you a heads up?   Have a Jargon Jar and fine people every time they mangle the language and use the latest fashionable phrase.  It'll be interesting to see who puts the most in!

These are just ideas - you might have some of your own, or you can adapt one or more of the ones above.  We would love you to do some fundraising for our 40th anniversary and have fun while you're doing it.  All donations are very gratefully received, everyone who spreads the word about the Centre is doing great work on our behalf, and we're only too happy to help you out as much as we can.

If you're interested in getting involved at a corporate level, do contact [email protected] to discuss how we can help you organise fundraising and teambuilding events, and how we can raise awareness of our work within your organisation.
