Over the last year the circumstances of the pandemic have given us an opportunity to introduce new virtual services and to explore new ways of working. These have been in constant review and development by the team and the Trustees; and your feedback through sessions and our surveys has been invaluable in helping decisions to be made for the future.

Payments/Donations

Our member survey results show support for keeping our physiotherapy, telephone support and counselling services free in the long-term. 64% of members who completed the survey preferred the option to continue with donations rather than have services at an advertised price.

Our services being offered free of charge means that people taking part in our fundraising and the Centre receiving donations is more important than ever. We were heartened to see the results from the survey which showed 75% of members completing the survey felt happier encouraging others to get involved in fundraising if services remained free.

The Trustees have made the decision to keep our physiotherapy, telephone support and counselling services free (oxygen therapy prices will remain the same, at £12 per session for people with neuro conditions and £20 per session for people with non-neuro conditions).

How you can help - To make sure we don’t have to return to charges in the future please continue to make individual donations to the Centre and encourage others to get involved too.

Membership Update

Over the last year, membership renewal and applications from new members have been undertaken through the website. We will carry on using our website in this way, as it is accessible at times that suit members and it helps to streamline our process. Thank you for bearing with us as we explored these new options this year. From your feedback and developing our processes we will be making some improvements going forward. As more in-Centre contact becomes possible in the coming months we’ll also be able to take membership payments and forms in person, for those who prefer this method.

From June 2021:

  • We will be introducing rolling membership, so that your membership year will start from the time you renew/become a member.
  • Our membership fees have not been increased for 4 years, so we are increasing some fees from June 2021 (see table below). We are also enabling only memberships for people with neurological conditions, carers, staff and trustees to have voting rights at our AGM – this is to make sure the heart of our charity is still centred around its established aim of supporting people with neurological conditions.

Virtual Services & Telephone Support

Many of you have seen real benefits from receiving our regular telephone support, being able to access our virtual services either on their own or in combination with our in-Centre face-to-face support.

Our aim is to keep running our telephone support in the future as well as our virtual exercise classes and support alongside getting back to a more “usual” level of in-Centre face-to-face sessions.

This will be a focus of our fundraising this year to make it possible to run both elements – watch this space for further details.

Through our virtual services especially we hope to be able to reach more people - and during the last year we have had people wanting to use our virtual services from across the UK and beyond. This helps us increase awareness of our Centre, so if you are a member of any local or online neurological condition support groups and are able to recommend us, that would be fantastic.

Thank you

Thank you so much to all our members who have supported our virtual sessions, have made donations and have told people they know about the Centre and encouraged them to get involved. The Neuro Therapy Centre is led by its members and together we can help the Centre continue, adapt and thrive.
