NiaNia teaches people how to develop their posture and co-ordination without the need for high impact exercises and helps bring about an improvement in their general health, physical fitness and mental wellbeing.

It incorporates movement energies from the dance arts (modern, jazz), the martial arts (Tae Kwan Doe, Tai Chi, Aikido), and the healing arts (yoga, the Alexendar Technique). Through expressive movement it teaches participants how to relieve muscular tension or poor posture, which can help prevent or alleviate associated conditions.
